Position Summary
The Accounting & Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the winery’s day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role manages financial processes across multiple revenue streams, supports leadership with reporting and analysis, and supervises administrative support staff.
This is a critical role that requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to manage both financial operations and compliance responsibilities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Accounting & Financial Oversight
- Oversee and maintain accurate financial records across all business operations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and POS systems across locations
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and present financial reports to leadership
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial accuracy
Compliance & Regulatory Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to winery operations
- Oversee and/or prepare required filings, including:
- Sales tax
- Excise tax
- Industry-specific reporting (TTB, WSLCB, etc.)
- Maintain all business licenses, permits, and renewals
- Ensure readiness for audits and regulatory inspections
- Stay current on regulatory changes impacting winery operations
Operations & Revenue Oversight
- Reconcile and track revenue across tasting rooms, events, retail, and wine club programs
- Monitor inventory-related financials (wine production, food, retail goods)
- Partner with department leaders to ensure accurate reporting and cost tracking
- Support event financial tracking and bonus structures
Leadership & Administrative Oversight
- Supervise and provide direction to administrative support staff
- Ensure administrative processes are organized, efficient, and compliant
- Delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for outcomes
- Support cross-functional communication between departments
Process Improvement & Support
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting and administrative processes
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Maintain organized and audit-ready financial documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience required
- Previous experience in winery, hospitality, or multi-revenue business strongly preferred
- Experience with compliance, tax reporting, or regulatory filings preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage confidential information and work independently
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs

Compensation: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
