Job Summary:
Maryhill Winery, located in the Columbia River Gorge, boasts a production of approximately 90K cases/year,
working with 30 varietals in both big and small lots, from growers in a 170-mile range. Production is approximately 80K cases/year.
The Lab Technician position is responsible for all wine and juice analysis, QC for the bottling line, and data
entry. This position requires someone who has working experience in a laboratory setting and who can
maintain the highest work and quality standards while following all Maryhill Winery policies and standard
operating procedures.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

The Lab Technician position is responsible for all wine and juice analysis, QC for the bottling line, and data
entry. This position requires someone who has working experience in a laboratory setting and who can
maintain the highest work and quality standards while following all Maryhill Winery policies and standard
operating procedures.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Collect samples from tanks and barrels and perform all routine analysis.
- Daily setup and calibration of lab equipment. (pH meter, Spectrophotometer, DO Meter, turbidity meter etc.)
- Prepares and standardizes solutions needed for analysis.
- Responsible for the accuracy of all lab analyses.
- Perform upkeep and maintenance of all lab equipment.
- Ensure precision and accuracy of analysis by calibrating and standardizing equipment/solutions on a routine basis.
- Be knowledgeable in and apply all standard operating procedures.
- Recognize results that are out of range, communicate discrepancies, and reanalyze.
- Perform all necessary lab analysis when bottling, including QC before, during, and after.
- Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Certificate or better in Chemistry, Enology, Fermentation Science, or related field.
- Previous lab experience required.
- Basic knowledge of winery and cellar operations.
- Ability to communicate and follow verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to understand and adhere to all safety requirements and precautions.
- This work requires constant use and exposure to hazardous materials.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and change tasks quickly with exceptional attention to detail.
- Adept, highly motivated, and very dependable.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent: Minimum requirement.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
*During the harvest season, this position may require working nights, weekends, and extended hours. The ability to work flexible hours is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and carry, up to 50 lb. without concern: Frequently.
- Able to stand and walk for long periods of time: Frequently.
- Able to push/pull, up to 50 lb. without concern: Often.
- Able to walk up and down stairs and catwalks: Often.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Full-time | Hourly pay rate starting at $21.00-$24.00 Per Hour | DOE
